Cloud agents
Cloud coding agents: the AI software factory
Background agents take a task, an issue or a Slack message, work on their own in a hosted sandbox and come back with a diff or a pull request. Run several at once and you have a small software factory. Here is how each one is started, where it runs, which file in your repo prepares its environment, and what it costs.

Every cloud agent
Codex Cloud
Opens PRsOpenAI
Codex Cloud runs delegated coding tasks on OpenAI-hosted infrastructure, with an isolated workspace per task, and lets you review the changes, commit them, or open a pull request.
GitHub Copilot cloud agent
Opens PRsGitHub
Copilot cloud agent (formerly Copilot coding agent) researches a repository, plans changes and implements them in the background, pushing to a branch for review before a pull request.
Cursor Cloud Agents
Opens PRsAnysphere (Cursor)
Cursor Cloud Agents run the Cursor agent in isolated cloud VMs with your repo and dependencies installed, and return merge-ready pull requests with screenshots, videos and logs.
Claude Code in the cloud (Claude Code on the web)
Opens PRsAnthropic
Claude Code cloud sessions run on Anthropic-managed VMs (or a self-hosted environment), keep working after you close your laptop, push branches to GitHub, and can auto-fix pull requests on CI failures and review comments.
Claude Code GitHub Actions
Opens PRsAnthropic
A GitHub Action that runs Claude Code in your repository's workflows to respond to @claude mentions in issues and pull requests, push commits, and turn issues into pull requests.
Jules
Opens PRsJules is an asynchronous coding agent that clones your GitHub repo into a cloud VM, plans and makes changes, and proposes them as a branch or pull request.
Devin
Opens PRsCognition
Devin is an autonomous AI software engineer that works in its own Linux VM with your repos cloned and opens pull requests for review.
Factory Droids (Remote Delegations)
Opens PRsFactory
Factory lets teams delegate tasks to Droid from Slack, Linear and Jira, running on managed or bring-your-own Droid Computers and opening pull requests with a summary of the change.
OpenHands Cloud
Opens PRsAll Hands AI
OpenHands Cloud is the hosted version of the open source OpenHands agent and can be started from an @openhands mention or openhands label on a GitHub issue, opening a pull request when it resolves the issue.
Amp Orbs
Amp
Orbs are remote machines that Amp creates per thread, with your code, tools and plugins set up, so the agent keeps working after you close your laptop.
Kiro Web (autonomous mode)
Opens PRsAmazon Web Services
Kiro Web is a browser-based Kiro agent that runs in cloud sessions, can pick up GitHub issues labeled kiro, and opens pull requests in autonomous mode.
Warp cloud agents (Oz)
Opens PRsWarp
Warp's Automation Platform runs cloud agents in remote Docker-based environments from manual runs, schedules, Slack, Linear, GitHub Actions or the API, and they can open pull requests.
Augment Cosmos
Opens PRsAugment Code
Cosmos runs Augment agents in sandboxed cloud VMs that wake on events from GitHub, Slack, Linear, PagerDuty, webhooks and cron, and can turn a delegated ticket into a draft pull request.
Tembo
Opens PRsTembo
Tembo runs harness-agnostic coding agents in isolated sandboxes, triggered by @tembo mentions or assigned issues, and sends back pull requests.
Ona Automations
Opens PRsOna (formerly Gitpod)
Ona Automations are background agents that run in cloud dev environments and clone, branch, build, test and open merge-ready pull requests, on demand, on a schedule or on pull request events.
GitLab Duo Developer Flow
GitLab
Developer Flow in the GitLab Duo Agent Platform turns a GitLab issue into a draft merge request, started by mentioning or assigning the Duo Developer service account or using the Implement button.
Before you hand work to a cloud agent
- Write an AGENTS.md with build, test and lint commands; most of these agents read it.
- Give the sandbox only the secrets the task needs, and keep production credentials out.
- Require review on the pull requests they open, the same as for a new teammate.
- Want agents you build yourself instead? See agent orchestration frameworks.
