Authentication

GitKraken account via gk auth login before adding the server.

Options

  • Bundled with GitLens 17.5 or later in VS Code based IDEs; other clients run gk mcp over stdio.
  • Claude Code: claude mcp add -t stdio gitkraken gk mcp.
  • Tools can be turned on or off one by one in the client.

Good to know

  • Pull request tools need Pro or higher. Private repo files, private remote Git operations and cloud issue trackers also need Pro.
  • Enterprise Git and issue tracker integrations (Jira Data Center, Azure DevOps Server) need Advanced or higher.
  • gitlens_start_work and gitlens_start_review create worktrees and also start an agent.
  • git_worktree supports only list and add. The tool list changes as tools are consolidated.
