Authentication

Hosted server signs you in with OAuth (recommended). The self-hosted stdio server uses a personal auth token in HONEYBADGER_PERSONAL_AUTH_TOKEN.

  • Self-hosted Docker image ghcr.io/honeybadger-io/honeybadger-mcp-server or a Go build from source
  • Self-hosted runs read-only by default; HONEYBADGER_READ_ONLY=false (or --read-only=false) enables writes
  • HONEYBADGER_API_URL=https://eu-app.honeybadger.io for EU accounts when self-hosting

Good to know

  • Delete tools take two calls: the first returns a preview and a confirm token that expires after 10 minutes
  • A US token will not authenticate against the EU region
  • Comment writes need write access (--read-only=false locally, or the write scope over HTTP)
  • list_faults and list_fault_notices return at most 25 items per call; list_check_ins returns the first 25 only
