What the Kong Konnect MCP server can do

Authentication

Browser sign-in in clients that support it (for example Claude Code and VS Code), or a Konnect Personal Access Token or System Account Access Token sent as Authorization: Bearer <token>. Tool access follows the permissions of the token's user.

  • Create, edit and publish Dev Portal pages and snippets, and create debug sessions with active tracing

  • KnowledgeBase is available only when KAi is enabled
  • Konnect only: incompatible with on-prem Kong
  • Organization admins can turn MCP access off in Organization Settings
  • Rate limits apply, and firewalls can block global.mcp.konghq.com
