From Redis's own MCP documentation.
Authentication
Connects with Redis credentials: a --url such as redis://user:pass@host:6379/0 (rediss:// for TLS), or --host, --port, --username and --password, or environment variables REDIS_HOST, REDIS_PORT, REDIS_USERNAME and REDIS_PWD. EntraID authentication is supported for Azure Managed Redis.
Options
- Run from PyPI with uvx --from redis-mcp-server@latest redis-mcp-server --url redis://localhost:6379/0
- Docker image docker.io/mcp/redis
- TLS options: --ssl, --ssl-ca-path, --ssl-keyfile, --ssl-certfile, --ssl-cert-reqs, --ssl-ca-certs
- --cluster-mode for Redis Cluster
- Use a Redis ACL user to restrict access, for example a read-only user with +@read -@write
Tools
Good to know
- Supports only the stdio transport; the README says Streamable HTTP will be added later
- The main branch is under active development; the README recommends a tagged release when running from GitHub
