Authentication

Interactive sign-in after connecting, then you pick a target environment. Access follows your identity, environment permissions and organization policies.

Options

  • Runs locally over stdio with npx -y @microsoft/copilot-studio-mcp@latest and connects to the hosted Copilot Studio service.
  • The management, discovery and consumption tools take an action plus parameters.
  • get_copilot_studio_skills serves guidance skills: agent-authoring, workflow-authoring, workflow-troubleshooting and testing-and-credits.
  • Separate Microsoft docs cover client setup for Visual Studio Code and GitHub Copilot CLI.

Good to know

  • Tool availability depends on service rollout, environment, permissions and client policy.
  • Access does not authorize connector connections. Sign-in and consent go through the interactive flow, never by pasting secrets into chat.
  • Saving a draft, publishing and running are separate steps. Keep client approval on for create, update, publish, deploy, run and delete actions; shared connections can affect other users.
  • Refresh discovery after switching account or environment, and do not reuse IDs across environments.
  • A timeout does not prove failure or rollback. Check state before retrying.
