What the GrowthBook MCP server can do

Authentication

Local stdio server (npx @growthbook/mcp) needs GB_API_KEY (an API key or personal access token) and GB_API_URL for self-hosted GrowthBook. The hosted server used by the Cursor plugin opens a GrowthBook sign-in on first use.

Options

  • GB_SKILLS_ENABLED=false registers only the API read and write tools
  • In HTTP mode, /mcp/api exposes only growthbook_api_read and growthbook_api_write
  • GB_HTTP_HEADER_<NAME> adds custom request headers
  • Cursor Marketplace plugin connects to the hosted server

  • growthbook_api_write can POST, PUT, PATCH and DELETE, so review write calls
